This is me

By Beto Castillo.

Writing has been for me an inseparable partner and ally in times of sadness and anguish, sadness, happiness, joy, loneliness, love and lack of love, grief, reflection, acceptance, understanding, stress, drunkenness and peace.

Throughout all these years I have written an infinite amount of things. I have given away, or lost, or thrown to the garbage a lot of this writings. And some I have preserved.

This book is conformed by a selection of some of these poems which have survived.

“I loved them. Especially ‘Simple Instructions’, ‘Self-portrait of two’, and of course, ‘Sleepiness’. Fantastic! Marcelo’s prose in the prologue is delicious.”
“This is a very special book of poems, written by an extraordinary creative and great colleague, Beto Castillo. How many adventures have we experienced working against all odds in Haiti, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Curaçao. We were so excited to receive it and read every verse!
“Dear Beto, I promised I was going to devour your book, but as soon as I started reading it I realized that was the wrong strategy. It is so you, that I preferred to enjoy it and reread your poems, listening to your voice inside my head, because only then they are complete. What can I tell you, dear Beto? I simply loved them. I have met the younger Beto, the one I sensed but hardly knew, and I remembered that you are such a good friend, so kind, clever, and transparent.”
